Diablo 4’s upcoming season is dropping on January 23. However, some players are curious what can transfer into the new season. To ensure players aren’t scrambling to get everything done in Season 2, here’s what will carry over into Season 3 of Diablo 4.
Campaign Progress – Transfer into Diablo 4 Season 3
The campaign of Diablo 4 will have its progress transferred into the new season. This means if you already finished the campaign once before, you don’t have to do it again. You will have the option to do the campaign once more when Season 3 drops but it’s not required to get to the end-game activities.
Campaign progress will carry over in Diablo 4 Season 3
A great feature for the player base especially if they weren’t too fond of Diablo 4’s campaign. The end-game activities like dungeons and free-roaming are usually the reason why players continue playing a live-service game like Diablo. You won’t have to play the campaign over again but there will be a Seasonal Questline, missions that’ll explain Diablo 4’s new mechanics and gameplay tools.
Map Progress – Transfer into Diablo 4 Season 3
Whatever you explored in Diablo 4 will carry over in Season 3. Most of the map progress you made such as discovering characters and waypoints remain in the upcoming season. However, waypoints such as Strongholds and certain side quests will need to be uncovered once more.
Strongholds are small dungeons that will give the players rewards like XP and Renown. Blizzard are likely resetting these Strongholds to give the players more rewards for the new season. Having these waypoints shown on the map would be less fun to uncover. If you explored nearly all of the map in Diablo 4, rest assured that you will keep most of that progress in Season 3.
Renown – Transfer into Diablo 4 Season 3
Players who have obtained a high Renown score will retain that in the new season. All of the Renown progress you made in Season 2 will transfer into Diablo 4’s Season 3. The Renown system is new for the Diablo series.

By simply completing activities in the Sanctuary will grant the player more Renown which can unlock more loot, bonus XP, and gold. Activities such as discovering an area or completing side quests/dungeons will give you renown.
All of the Renown including the bonus rewards will carry over. If you create a new character in Diablo 4 Season 3, your character will have all these bonuses at the start. Nice way to give players an extra boost for the new season.
The upcoming season is expected to be released on January 23. If you want a more in-depth look on the new changes for Season 3, you can tune into Blizzard’s Diablo YouTube/Twitch channels for the Developer Update Livestream on January 18 at 9AM PST.
