"Elden Ring Stir: 'Change My Mind' Statement Faces Strong Critique - Here's Why!"

 SUMMARY

  • Elden Ring is the title that led to the growth and amplification of the Soulslike subgenre and is also responsible for the incredible increase in popularity of FromSoftware.
  • The title was released in 2022, and two years later, it is as relevant as it was.
  • A player's post received a lot of flak; some people took digs, some people expressed disappointment, and some even offered logical arguments.

Elden Ring took the gaming industry by storm and was a game celebrated by players and reviewers alike. The game took the SoulsBorne formula and applied it to a grand open-world game with one of the most in-depth world-building works, thanks to FromSoftware’s collaboration with George R.R. Martin.

The game also introduced a few mechanics for newcomers to the SoulsBorne genre and FromSoftware games in general. It had mechanics, making it much more accessible than traditional Dark Souls games. Because of this, novices to the subgenre are advised to begin their journey with Elden Ring. On the contrary, some SoulsBorne enthusiasts feel that the game was created for players who couldn’t come to terms with the original Dark Souls games.

One such player posted this opinion on the game’s subreddit and received a lot of flak.A Bitter Fan Dismisses Elden Ring as a Title for Players Who Handle the Original Dark SoulsElden ring is for beta people who can’t get past asylum demon in dark souls 1 change my mind.

The usage of genuinely bitter terms, usually found in an Instagram comment section for a reel appealing to juveniles, was bound to experience a lot of blowback, and it did. Players were visibly unimpressed with the post, and they let it rip in the comment section below.

Some people also highlighted that this wasn’t news and that the user should have used the correct tag. Also, the poster should attempt to justify why they feel so. Blatantly calling a particular set of gamers “beta” is not indicative of maturity. People also stated that the reason people hate the game is that it is widespread. Popularity always opens up more avenues for criticism than underrated or less popular games.

Some people also stated that this is a joke or an attempt to troll the game. Some people tried to offer a reasonable explanation for why Dark Souls wasn’t as popular and why people directly skipped to Elden Ring:

…or in some cases just don’t enjoy Dark Souls. I really didn’t enjoy the Demon’s Souls Remake either. Elden Ring takes the best parts from the previous games and rejects the nonsense, making Elden Ring objectively a better game. Or were you simply trolling?

Others were not amused and wanted to take digs at the original post author for trying to farm engagement and spread unnecessary negative emotion in the subreddit.
