Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced they were divorcing after more than 20 years together last year. But considering their divorce hasn’t been finalized yet, it’s left some fans with hope for a reconciliation, which was further fueled by recent reports that Hugh is trying to win his estranged wife back.
Back Deborra-Lee gave a rare update recently on her personal life, and it appears she’s enjoying her newfound single status, even though she admits the transition has been intimidating.
Deborra-Lee Admits Life Without Hugh Has Been Scary
“Change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it but I think it is probably our greatest gift,” she told The Daily Telegraph.
While she declined to speak directly on her ongoing divorce, Deborra, 68, says she’s been keeping busy with her new movie Force of Nature: The Dry, which she stars in alongside Eric Banna.
“There were so many appealing factors for me, a great script by Jane Harper and directed by Robert Connolly,” the actress explained. “I love Eric and coming home to Australia to shoot in the wilds.”
“You're in for a great ride,” Deborra continued while recommending the movie to fans. “I love mysteries. There's so many twists and turns. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.”
Hugh Is Reportedly Trying To Win His Wife Back
Earlier this month, a report by Radar Onlinegave fans hope for a reconciliation when a source claimed Hugh is eager to work on the marriage and didn’t want to break-up in the first place. Nevertheless, the insider said Deborra is the one who’s reluctant to give things another go.
"Without a doubt, she misses him. You don't just stop loving someone," they explained. "However, she also has to love herself and do what is right for her — not him."
A similar sentiment was echoed by a source who spoke to the National Enquirer, saying, "Deborra was moved — but remained distant," the source said. "One thing is for sure — Hugh is going to have to summon all the charm he used to become a beloved international star to win her back."
Hugh and Deborra announced they were divorcing in September following 27 years of marriage. "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they told PEOPLE. “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
Before Hugh Jackman became known as Wolverine in the 'X-Men' movies and amassing a huge net worth, he had a very unusual job.
"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness,” the former couple continued. “We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
"This is the sole statement either of us will make,” they concluded.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee met on the set of the Australian television show Correlli in 1995. The couple got married on April 11, 1996, and they adopted two children, Oscar Maximillian and Ava Eliot, in 2000 and 2005, respectively.
