"Worth the Upgrade? Mass Effect Legendary Edition – A Gamer's Dilemma Answered!"

Though you find great loot in the field, sometimes cash remains king. With these tips, you'll be rich in no time.

Since 2007, there have been three other installments to the world BioWare created. There has been talk of a new Mass Effect game, but in the meantime, is it worth it to play all of the main three games, remastered? Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes the first three games, remastered and

Our Lead News Editor, George Foster, gave the Legendary Edition of the Mass Effect trilogy all of its well-deserved stars in TheGamer's official review.

The first couple of Mass Effect games are pretty old and some players have a hard time getting into the first, oldest game. This bundle remasters and optimizes the old feeling that these games used to have so that new players can enjoy the experience better.

Legendary Edition is worth your money because it includes multiple full-fledged games which include promotional weapons and Mass Effect 3 DLCs - all of which were released when these games first came out.

One thing that surprised me instantly is how organic the story and characters still feel, even 14 years after originally launching. Which is odd, since many of them are synthetics.

I was expecting to cringe a bit and see a drop from the sequels, but the acting, characterisation, and worldbuilding here are all nearly as fantastic as what comes later. I would still say that the sequels are playable without the first game (heck, that’s how I had to do it before now), but you’re doing yourself a disservice if you choose to skip the first game.

This bundle does not include Mass Effect: Andromeda because only the first three games impact each other if you combine your save file. Commander Shephard's story changes as you make choices in each game. Some components of the story in Mass Effect 3 may not happen to another player who chose not to kill that person or to make love to that alien.

Since each game can impact the next, this magnificent space trilogy is best experienced in the Legendary Edition, where you can access all three games at the same place and continue your story.

Time Expenditure

Though each Mass Effect game is considered an open-world RPG, neither of the four takes any more than 50 hours to complete. You could finish the entire trilogy within a week if you were determined enough.

Each Mass Effect game, from the first game to the third, takes around 25 hours each to complete when not trying to achieve completion of all side quests and DLC. If you are someone who likes to be a completionist or take their sweet time experiencing every corner of a game, it would likely take you 50+ hours to complete each game.

Combining this information, it would take around 150+ hours to complete Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

In the table below, you can select the name of the game to be redirected to more information about how long it takes to complete each game.

Even as a veteran player, you will be able to replay your favorite franchise in one pretty box with better optimization this time around. Once you replay the first game, you can go right back to the main menu and select the next. No need to worry about how to transfer your Shephard's file to EA from your Steam library.

As a new player, this is the best time to try out the series since it comes with DLC and the old games are remastered.
