Strictly Come Dancing star and legendary newsreader Angela Rippon plans to spend her 80th birthday partying with pals in Las Vegas for three crazy days 'Hangover-style'

Legendary newsreader Angela Rippon plans to celebrate her 80th birthday with a real-life Hangover - by spending three crazy days partying with pals in Las Vegas.

The Strictly star - who famously stunned Britain when she flashed her legs dancing in a Morecambe & Wise TV Christmas special - said she thought her last ever big party would be when she turned 60.

But she wants to toast turning 80 later this year in style by visiting the world’s gambling playground - the setting for the wild Hangover comedy movie series.

Angela told Platinum magazine: "I’m still thinking about how to celebrate my 80th this October. I had a big party when I was 60, a big party, and I said that would be the last of my parties.

"When I was 70 I actually took myself off alone to Oman and stayed in a beautiful hotel in Muscat. At one of my dinners with friends I mentioned I might go to Las Vegas and about six people – all my youngies – said, Can we come too?’.

"At my age, I should be allowed the latitude to do what I like and if I want to spend three crazy days playing the machines in Las Vegas that’s what I’ll do.
